The Winchester Community Games was a FREE community sport and arts festival, offering lots of different activities for all ages and abilities. It was co-ordinated by Winchester SALT, with activities provided by local sports clubs, small enterprises and community groups. It was held on a Sunday in September each year at the Winchester Sports Stadium in Bar End.
Winchester Community Games 2015 was held at Winchester Sports Stadium, Bar End, on Sunday 27th September. It was co-ordinated by volunteers from Winchester SALT, with activities offered by a wide range of community sports clubs and other local organisations. The event offered people of all ages and abilities a chance to have a go at a wide range of free sports and arts activities. There was even an Opening Ceremony, and an ‘Old School Sports Day’ that included favourites like egg and spoon and sack races. Winchester Community Games 2015 was supported by a Hampshire County Council 'Have Your Say' grant of £700 and a Winchester Town Forum small grant of £500. Topps Tiles provided generous sponsorship for the commemorative mosaic.
Winchester Community Games 2016 was held on Sunday 25th September, again at the Winchester Sports Stadium at Bar End. The 2016 event was supported by Denplan, with first aid cover provided by the Winchester Half Marathon and gazebos supplied by Winchester Street Markets. Winchester Community Games 2017 was held on Sunday 17th September, once again offering FREE family fun at the Winchester Sports Stadium. In 2018, the event was put on hold in anticipation of the construction work for the new sport and leisure centre and resulting disruption to the sports stadium.
THANK YOU to all our funders, sponsors and volunteers for making the Winchester Community Games possible and for continuing the city's Olympic legacy!
